Eye of tiger
tiger eye
The tiger eye is a gemstone belonging to the mineral family of crystallizing neosilicates. The stone takes a wide spectrum of colors from black to red through yellow, green or brown. The tiger's eye owes its color so attractive to the inclusions of iron present in the chemical composition of the gem. The tiger eye has a cubic crystal system, it is translucent and has a white line. Its brightness is glassy and its hardness is around 6 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale.
The tiger eye is generally a relatively abundant stone, found on all five continents, especially in areas that have seen volcanic activity. The most remarkable tiger eye deposits are found in Brazil, North America, India, Tanzania, Madagascar, Russia and even in some French regions.
