The legend of El Dorado is that of a mythical country located somewhere in South America and teeming with gold. The legend of the country overflowing with gold, Eldorado, began in the region of Bogota around 1536 and was then relayed in the tales of Gaspar de Carvajal. The Spanish conquistadors, inspired by these writings but also by the legend of the famous cities of gold, set out in search of this gold. The Spanish conquistadors will never stop discovering these famous cities, in vain.
