Brecciated Jasper

JASPE BRESCHIA

JASPE BRESCHIA

The breschia jasper is a brechoid jasper. Although belonging to the large family of jaspers, it is more a rock than a mineral. The stone combines two types of jaspers (red and yellow-brown) associated with rock crystal or chalcedony. The peculiarity of the breschia jasper lies mainly in its color, associating red with brown, the whole being traversed by gray to yellowish veins. The red coloration is mainly due to the deposits of iron oxides that make up the stone.

The most remarkable deposits of breschia jasper are found in Brazil, the United States, Madagascar, France, Central Asia, in the regions around the Urals.
